Tech Prep….pathways to the future

CTE  links academic skills with career preparation.  Students train for successful careers, which meet the needs of businesses and industry in technically skilled occupations.  CTE classes lead to an associate degree, two-year certificate, apprenticeship training or four-year college degree.

CTE classes are not just book work, theory and lecture.  Applied learning is what CTE is all about-it’s about doing!  A CTE education is based on the student’s interests and takes advantage of the way he or she learns best.  In CTE, the skills learned are developed in the work world and based upon actual skills and knowledge that the student will need to know and do on a job.  Duplication of courses is eliminated as students move along a seamless career pathway from high school to college.  In Solano County, articulated CTE classes include: Biotechnology, Business, Marketing, Computer Science, Criminal Justice, Drafting, Mechatronics, Multimedia, Office Technology, Photography, Web Design and others under development.
